The 2nd Edition of the Tutbury Book of Remembrance will be published soon, in 4th quarter 2014. It will be available free online as the 1st Edition was and also available in hardcopy.
The hardcopy version will be available free to local churches, museums, libraries and schools and to those who have helped with the research, particularly relatives. For everyone else, the hardcopy version will be available at the cost of printing (plus P&P where applicable), either directly from ourselves or (probably) from the “local interest” section of Waterstones in Burton-on-Trent. Until we actually go to print we will not know the exact cost, but we would expect it to be between £10-£15 on the first print run.
If you are interested in having a copy of the book when it is published, please use the “interest” form below. Filling in the form does not commit you to anything - it just helps us to judge the number of copies to print.
The 2nd Edition will have details of over 40 Fallen from WWI who had a connection to the Tutbury area although they are not on the War Memorial in St. Mary’s churchyard; their death would have had an effect on the people in the village who knew them, hence their inclusion in the 2nd Edition. Also:
The appendices on CWGC cemeteries and on regiments have been updated to reflect the additions.
The Rev Ian Whitehead has kindly supplied a new Forward to the 2nd Edition.
The Tutbury and Hatton section has been updated with then and now maps
A section has been added on what life was like in Britain in 1914, both at the turn of the year and the events leading up to the declaration of War on August 4th 1914.
